Business Leaders Connie A. Stefankiewicz (BMO) and J. Gordon Smeaton (NFL) Join HLG’s Advisory Board

Horizon Leader Group (HLG) is excited to announce the appointment of Connie A. Stefankiewicz and J. Gordon Smeaton to its Advisory Board.

“Both Connie and Gordon possess invaluable skills and extensive experience in setting the direction for a company’s marketing and business development strategies,” said HLG partner Joe Jackman. “We’ll leverage this wealth of knowledge to enhance our client experience, extend our reach and engage our stakeholders including athletes, sports executives and corporate partners. Along with Ian, they will play a critical part in shaping our business strategically and growing HLG globally.”

Connie and Gordon join current Board member, R. Ian Niven, former Chairman, President & CEO of the investment management arm of BMO Harris Private Banking.

Connie’s corporate background includes serving as the Chief Marketing Officer for Bank of Montreal Financial Group and President & Chief Executive Officer for BMO InvestorLine, Inc. As CMO, Connie was responsible for setting the strategic direction of the company’s brand architecture and brand strategies as well as all aspects of BMO’s global marketing programs. Throughout her career, Connie has been recognized for her innovative media sponsorships and branded content work that includes TV (“The Amazing Race”) and professional sports partnerships (NBA & Toronto Raptors and TFC). She was honoured as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women, Top 100 by Women’s Executive Network. And In 2017, Strategy™, Canada’s national marketing community publication, named Connie Marketer of the Year, for “The BMO Effect” campaign.

Connie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from McMaster University, and a Master of Business Administration from York University – Schulich School of Business.

Gordon’s corporate background includes almost twenty years as an executive with the National Football League. He drove the league’s business in global markets as a liaison between club owners, league leadership, governments, and promoters. Gordon planned twenty American Bowl pre-season games in Japan, Australia, and Canada. He also originated and implemented the NFL’s first-ever international regular season game in Mexico City. This record setting game (103,000+ attendees) led to the current International Series at Wembley, Tottenham Hotspur, and Azteca Stadiums. Gordon’s background also includes business development, marketing, sales and operations roles with Labatt, Panasonic, and the America’s Cup.

Gordon is a Queen’s University Political Science graduate. Gordon serves as a Board member for the Yorkville Youth Athletic Association, the largest youth sports organization in Manhattan. Born and raised in Toronto, Gordon is married with two children and resides in New York City.
