Transforming Leadership Performances, Brands and Businesses
Toronto, ON, November 7, 2019 – Ian Leggatt, a 19-year veteran of the PGA Tour – which included a victory at the PGA Tour’s Tucson Open, and three World Cup appearances – has joined Horizon Leader Group (HLG) as part of their cutting-edge Athlete Leadership Development Program. In his new position, the Canadian born Leggatt will be responsible for fostering relationships and strategic partnerships in the professional sports and corporate worlds.
Leggatt retired from the PGA Tour in May 2009 due to injuries and is presently the Director of Golf/GM at Summit Golf Club. He is a former vice president of golf at Wasserman Sports Marketing & Talent Management Company. Leggatt brings extensive business experience, as well as his passion for mentoring and coaching athletes, to HLG and its subsidiary brand, The Players Box.
HLG serves global sports leaders, organizations, and elite and professional athletes, teams, agencies, associations, and other stakeholders. From the dressing room to the boardroom, through game-changing consulting, coaching, and professional recruiting services, HLG is reshaping and redefining what it means to be an athlete.
A Texas Wesleyan University graduate – BA Sports Management – Leggatt shared, “I’m excited to be part of HLG’s visionary team that shares my passion for facilitating the overall growth and development of the elite and professional athlete. Through HLG’s The Players Box, we will make a positive impact in the lives of active and former athletes by helping them better understand their brand persona – who they are beyond their athlete identity. The simple reality is no one plays forever, so building a sustainable foundation away from the game is essential. We provide direction to help the athlete leverage their brand to smoothly pivot to post-game passions, businesses, and philanthropic opportunities that will drive a lifetime of fulfilling purpose.”
Leggatt maintains a high profile in the game of golf as “The Golf Insider” Analyst at Rogers Sportsnet 2011-present, and as the Host of “The Golf Show” on The FAN590.
Leggatt joins HLG Partner, Steven Caldwell, a 17-year professional footballer in the Premier League and MLS, and currently an on-air analyst for The Sports Network Canada.
“It’s great to welcome Ian to the team,” said Caldwell. “We share a passion for unleashing the full potential of our world-class athlete clients, helping them drive peak performances and enhancing their playing career and business successes. Ian’s experiences are invaluable as we continue to build a unique professional development platform, for and by athletes.”
Horizon Leader Group Partner, Joe Jackman, added, “The Players Box is focused on the evolution of the athlete; to help the athlete lead and excel in the game, and prepare for life after sport. We are committed to better serving athletes and their stakeholders, to play our part in unleashing personal bests and a lifetime of epic results.”
