Horizon Leader Group (HLG), the world’s first, “From Locker Room to Board Room” leadership development agency, has further strengthened its leadership team with the addition of Margo Malowney, who has taken on the role of Head of Strategy and Purpose.
In her new role, Margo will work closely with Horizon’s Leadership team, athlete advisors and corporate partners to lead the company’s growth and development of its best-in-class development platform. Margo is an innovator and a visionary marketing executive, with more than 20 years’ leadership experience helping young organizations grow and build. Her early experience as a pioneer in the new Olympic sport of beach volleyball lent itself easily to later helping a number of entrepreneurial CEO’s and business leaders forge new paths towards growth, transformation, and innovation.
As a part of HLG’s management team, Margo will also lead the company’s strategic marketing and communications initiatives, and its Women in Leadership, in the Business of Sports division. With that also comes HLG’s “purpose” driven mandate with focus on diversity and environmental impact.
“Her drive for high performance combined with business development, leadership and marketing skills will help drive our vision of helping both athletes, and sports executives maximize their leadership potential and find sustainable success,” said Joe Jackman, HLG’s Managing Partner. “She will play a significant role in helping expand our service, from a thriving sport focused, boutique global executive search and consulting firm to an end-to-end, locker room to board room provider.”
Margo joins the leadership management team of Jackman, Stephen Caldwell, Head of Athlete Relations, Debbie Miller, General Manager, Max Dawson, Head of Recruitment Services and Kirsty Dunne, Director of Community.
“I’m thrilled to be joining HLG at this time of important growth, and to join an already fantastic team of leaders, members, and advisors,” said Malowney. “This is an exciting time for the company and I believe for athletes and sports executives everywhere – I look forward to contributing my experience to help build this brand and our innovative leadership development platform.”
Founded in 2019 and based in Toronto, ON, HLG is a first-of-it’s-kind Leadership Development Agency for world-class athletes, their stakeholders and executives in the Business of Sports.
